I thought to myself recently "why don't more TV shows integrate with podcasting? Wouldn't it be cool if episodes could be touched up for presentation as audio-only podcasts?" Well, I looked around the 'Net and was able to find several places where this was happening. (new windows)
CBS News (not strictly tv)
Although podcasting has taken off as a hobby, it is still a nascent industry. These companies are far ahead of the curve, and whether that will pay off [big] has yet to be seen. At the very least podcasting is bound to become one more way for consumers to digest content. Despite podcastings drawbacks as a more technical and obscure niche, it has an inherent over radio–it exists online. There is no radio network to limit content. This makes finding advertisers and sponsors somewhat difficult (assuming a podcaster can even muster a large audience), but it also gives the consumer a greater variety of choices. People, if they are so inclined, can listen to what they want when they want.
